Frequently Asked Questions

What is The Locals: Heartland Tour?

The Locals is a nationwide, independently produced interview series highlighting independently owned businesses and institutions across the country. Each episode is filmed on location and centers on thoughtful conversation, history, and the people behind the work.

How does being featured work?

Each episode is a collaborative, professionally produced project. Our team handles the production, hosting, editing, and release. We work together to tell your story in an authentic and thoughtful way. Episodes are released on The Locals channel and shared across platforms.

Is this an advertisement or sponsored content?

The Locals is not a traditional advertisement, product demo, or scripted promotion.

While we do cover your services and products, the focus goes much deeper. Each episode explores who you are, how you think, what you’ve built, and what it’s taken to get there. The goal is understanding, not persuasion.

When people spend real time with a story like this, they don’t just learn what a business does, they learn who’s behind it. That deeper context builds trust and familiarity, which often leads to stronger word-of-mouth and more meaningful business relationships over time.

What do businesses receive?

A polished, professionally produced, on-location episode published on The Locals channel

  • Storytelling guided by an Emmy-nominated producer with years of experience at NBC, CBS, and MeTV

  • Inclusion in a curated, nationwide documentary series

  • Collaborative social clips formatted for sharing

  • Access to a growing audience that values thoughtful conversation and independent businesses

Who is this a good fit for?

The tour is a good fit for independently owned businesses and institutions that value trust, relationships, and long-term brand building over quick promotional wins.

What if this interview format isn’t what my business needs?

No problem at all.

If a documentary-style interview isn’t the right fit, Ryan also works independently as a producer, editor, and host on projects outside the show. That can include branded storytelling, promotional videos, campaigns, or other production partnerships.

Ryan and his team is always happy to travel, produce, and collaborate in a way that best serves your goals.

Is every business a fit for the tour?

Not always, and that’s intentional.

The Locals, and the current Heartland Tour series was curated to ensure the stories feel aligned and meaningful. If the tour isn’t the right fit for you, contact our team for other branded storytelling and promotional video services.

How do I start the conversation?

Where is the tour going next?

The tour travels to different regions throughout the year. Locations are selected based on story fit, timing, and logistics. If you’re interested in a future stop, feel free to reach out and start the conversation. Your business and hometown could be our next stop!

Will you have an opportunity to review the video before it is released?

In the spirit of collaboration, businesses are able to review the episode and request a small number of reasonable tweaks before release. Editorial direction remains consistent with the tone and values of the series.
